Behind the designRead the story

The early universe was almost uniform.

Almost.

The cosmic microwave background is the cooled afterglow of the early universe. Today its average temperature is about 2.725 kelvin with tiny variations on the scale of roughly one part in one hundred thousand.

About 0.001%.

Those variations preserve the imprint of small differences in the early distribution of matter. Gravity amplified that unevenness. Slightly denser regions gathered more matter and over immense stretches of time those differences helped give rise to galaxies and the large-scale structure of the universe.

A very small difference.

A very long reach.

That relationship became the starting point for Cosmic Background Calibration Office.

We imagined the beginnings of cosmic structure passing through an ordinary office procedure. A request from the Quantum Fluctuations Division. A calibration dial. A baseline temperature. An approval stamp.

The requested adjustment barely registers.

The paperwork looks routine.

EXPECTED IMPACT: NEGLIGIBLE.

ACTUAL IMPACT: GALAXIES.

The numbers belong to cosmology.

The administrative arrangements are ours.

We chose this idea because it asks us to reconsider what counts as significant. Something almost lost in the decimal places can leave its mark across the sky.

Sometimes the smallest detail is where the whole story begins.

Beauty. Discovery. Depth.

Fabric & care

Soft, lightweight cotton for comfortable everyday wear. Our current Black and Navy Bella + Canvas shirts are 100% combed and ring-spun cotton, approximately 4.2 oz/yd² (142 g/m²). These are lightweight shirts, not heavyweight tees.

Turn inside out. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colors and mild detergent. Avoid fabric softener and bleach. Do not dry-clean. Air-dry where practical, or tumble-dry on low. Use a cool iron inside out if needed; never iron directly on the printed design.

Pre-shrunk does not mean shrink-proof. Warm or hot washing and high-heat drying can cause further shrinkage and affect the print. Follow the care label supplied with your garment.
