Behind the designRead the story
Sometimes the result survives without the path that led to it.
Srinivasa Ramanujan left behind pages filled with mathematical discoveries. Many were recorded without proofs leaving later mathematicians to work out how those extraordinary relationships held together.
A few lines could become years of work.
In 1976 George Andrews rediscovered a collection of Ramanujan’s handwritten pages among papers held at Trinity College, Cambridge.
They became known as the Lost Notebook.
The pages contained work from the final year of Ramanujan’s life.
The writing had stopped.
The mathematics still had somewhere to go.
That distance between a recorded result and the work of understanding it became the starting point for Ramanujan: The Lost Notebook.
We imagined fragments gathered for another look. Paper edges. A series unfolding across a page. Notes that seem to belong to a larger conversation.
The typeset q-series and paper composition are our own homage to that mathematical world.
RESULTS WITHOUT ROADMAPS.
Andrews and Bruce Berndt would spend decades developing proofs and explanations for the material Ramanujan left behind.
We chose Ramanujan because his work makes discovery feel both deeply personal and larger than one lifetime. The pages preserve something of one person’s way of seeing.
They also give others somewhere to begin.
A result written down.
A path still to be found.
Beauty. Discovery. Depth.

Fabric & care
Soft, lightweight cotton for comfortable everyday wear. Our current Black and Navy Bella + Canvas shirts are 100% combed and ring-spun cotton, approximately 4.2 oz/yd² (142 g/m²). These are lightweight shirts, not heavyweight tees.
Turn inside out. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colors and mild detergent. Avoid fabric softener and bleach. Do not dry-clean. Air-dry where practical, or tumble-dry on low. Use a cool iron inside out if needed; never iron directly on the printed design.
Pre-shrunk does not mean shrink-proof. Warm or hot washing and high-heat drying can cause further shrinkage and affect the print. Follow the care label supplied with your garment.
